Lucky through a White Zoom

At Home, Austin, TX
Another photograph of Lucky and another lens test. I recently purchased my most expensive lens a 70-200L F4 IS. It one of those white Canon zoom lens that I thought I’d be crazy to own. As white lenses go, its one of the smaller ones and it fits on my 7D nicely.
Curse Canon! (just kidding of course) You get a nicer camera and its an entry point into getting nicer and more expensive lenses. When I first got my 7D, I noticed a tremendous image quality increase with my prime lenses. However, my old zoom only improved marginally. It seems like to get the most out of these high resolution cameras, you need some higher quality lenses. So far, I’m blown away by the results. Even my non-photo-enthusiast wife noticed an image quality difference. Which is definitely a good thing.

Wild About Music

This is the coolest music store in the world! It’s called "Wild About Music" and it’s right in the middle of downtown Austin on 6th street. The store has everything on its various levels and I can’t even begin to describe all the memorabilia and music-themed goods inside. Be sure to have a look if you are ever in the neighborhood and you’re a music fan!
You can get to their website here: www.wildaboutmusic.com

The V8

I spent a steaming hot Saturday at the hot rod show in Austin… there was so much to shoot… I hardly knew where to begin! I figured you couldn’t go wrong with one of these red numbers…
This is from my tutorial at
My Tutorial is right here – I have over 16,500 unread emails – sorry but I am too swamped – but most of you ask for that tutorial, so there it is!

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken.

So, in a vain attempt to save my backyard from 103 degree heat…I also found a pretty neat picture. I’m sure my neighbors thought I was completely off my rocker w/a tripod + camera set up and me so hunched over…but whatever. I’m already the crazy lady who walks her cat on a leash.
No group invites, please

Vacancy at the Bel Air Motel

This is one of those places that I always drive by in Austin but never took the time to shoot… Finally, one day the clouds seemed right for the kind of shot I wanted, so I pulled over to make it happen!

The Crimson before the Party

(the bigger sizes are nice!)
I was lucky enough, thanks to a friend, get entry to run around the Crimson Lounge in Chicago on a Saturday before they opened. I think maybe some of you have seen the other Chicago photos of this location… there were so many interesting things to shoot with great angles. That reminds me — did you know that if you scroll down and look on the right, you can click there to see photos from various locations around the world?
Speaking of shooting cool stuff inside of an amazing place, we have a secret event coming up in Austin in the beginning of December. But shhh… don’t tell anyone… I’ll announce more as the time gets closer. It’s going to be quite a party. It may or may not have something to do with a major book launch from someone you may or may not know.

The Skies over the Alamo

It’s hard to believe that the Alamo is just a bit over an hour from Austin. I think I’ve only driven down there three times since I have lived here, but it’s always a good time. On this particular day, the sun was setting and some rather moody Alamo-esque clouds were rolling in… just in time for the tripod!
